WWE Super Showdown: Undertaker defeats AJ Styles in 10 seconds

talksport: WWE Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia has been accused of being a glorified house show in the past, but there is no denying they bring out all the top stars for the event.

The Undertaker did not have a match on the card, but pictures of him arriving in Saudi Arabia yesterday did the rounds to get the fans excited that he might be involved.

He did just that in the opening match of the night that saw superstars competing for the ‘prestigious’ Tuwaiq Trophy.

After R-Truth managed to outlast Bobby Lashley, Andrade and Erick Rowan, AJ Styles swooped in and easily dispatched the 24/7 legend.

Rey Mysterio was meant to come out next, but The O.C. attacked him so that he couldn’t. Just when it seemed like Styles would have his hand raised, a camera cut to backstage.

It showed The Undertaker having just finished off the O.C. and he then made his way to the ring in his textbook, slow-paced fashion.

After Styles finally realised he couldn’t get out of facing The Phenom, ‘Taker landed one single chokeslam on the former WWE champion to get the 1-2-3 and collect the trophy.

All signs are pointing to these two facing off at WrestleMania 36 in a dream match and this is the start of their angle.

While WWE would want to hold back and not give too much away, having Styles lose to just one chokeslam made him look weak and fans were not into it.

It’s likely that Styles will argue he wasn’t prepared to face ‘Taker and he wants a real shot at him. He’s also just the kind of worker that can pull a great match out of a rapidly approaching 55-year-old Undertaker.

Elsewhere on the Super Showdown card, John Morrison and The Miz defeated the New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team titles.

There’s speculation that the SmackDown tag team titles may be defended in a multi-team match at WrestleMania, possibly involving The Usos.
