West Ham to sell winger to a massive loss of £20m

footballinsider247: West Ham face the prospect of selling winger Felipe Anderson at a massive loss this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Londoners are well placed to hold on to the Brazilian even if he pushes for a transfer as he has two years remaining on his contract as well as the option in the club’s favour of another 12 months.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that there could be a big-name exit this summer amid the changed economics in football caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

David Moyes is likely to have to cash in on one of his prize assets to fund other signings as the Hammers feel the squeeze.

West Ham do not want to lose star man Declan Rice and Anderson could be the big name to leave if there is strong enough interest at the right price.

However, the club’s hopes of recouping what they paid for the 26-year-old – an initial £36million rising to £42m – are looking increasingly bleak amid football’s cash crisis.

Transfer fees are expected to crash this summer and the best West Ham may hope for is half of what they paid, a potential £20m loss.

The club will certainly listen to offers for Anderson, who is a firm target for Napoli as they seek a replacement for Jose Callejon.

The forward had an impression debut campaign following his arrival from Lazio in the summer of 2018.

Operating mainly on the left flank, he scored 10 goals and provided five assists from 40 matches last season but has been far less effective during the current campaign.

He has scored just once in 24 appearances in all competitions.

In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that the club have been offered Leeds United big name.
