I am staggered and shocked on Chelsea Christian Pulisic Transfer

Chelsea have made some big moves in the January transfer market, spending big on Gonzalo Higuain and Christian Pulisic and moving on Alvaro Morata. Maurizio Sarri also managed to keep hold of Callum Hudson-Odoi, despite massive interest from Bayern Munich throughout the month.

The transfer of Christian Pulisic has now drawn criticism from Sam Allardyce, who has slammed Chelsea for allowing the player to spend the rest of the season at Dortmund. Big Sam told Sky Sports:

“I am staggered and shocked,”

“What if he does an ACL over there?”

“You invest that much money and then you have the settling in period… next season, who knows, he might come in and struggle.”

Chelsea spent a huge £57.6m on the American winger but he will now remain at Dortmund as they aim to win the Bundesliga and end Bayern Munich’s dominance. He has contributed just three goals and three assists for the BVB this season and Chelsea will be hoping he can hit the ground running in summer, although Allardyce seems far from convinced.

Fellow new signing Gonzalo Higuain did not get off to a flyer as Chelsea were spanked 4-0 by Bournemouth in midweek. He was substituted after an hour with manager Maurizio Sarri citing a niggly back injury as the cause for his poor performance.

Pulisic has all the potential to become one of Europe’s top attacking players but another concern Chelsea fans have is that he may be a direct replacement for Eden Hazard, their star man. The Belgian is still hotly tipped to join Real Madrid in the summer, with Sarri even hinting that he could be on his way out of the club.
