metro: Real Madrid are ready to offer Manchester United three players as bait as they bid to sign Paul Pogba during the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Zinedine Zidane, who returned to the Bernabeu earlier in the year, has identified Pogba as one of his priority signings and is putting pressure on Real to secure his signature. Pogba has made no secret of his affection for both Zidane and Real Madrid and is said to be open to a move to the Spanish capital after a turbulent season at Old Trafford.
The French World Cup winner made 47 appearances for United in all competitions last season but had a number of runnings with Jose Mourinho before his sacking.
Pogba also clashed with Manchester United fans at the end of the campaign and Real Madrid consider a summer deal for Pogba to be ‘really possible’, according to the Sunday Times. It is claimed Florentino Perez is keen to avoid a straight cash payment for Pogba, instead favouring to offset some of his price by using at least one Real Madrid star as bait in the deal.
Ideally for Real Madrid, the player to join Manchester United as part of the Pogba switch would be Gareth Bale, who is no longer part of Zindane’s plans. Welsh forward Bale has emerged as a target for United chief Ed Woodward in the past and Zidane is more than willing to see him depart over the coming months.
But Real Madrid will also reportedly consider offering James Rodriguez and Keylor Navas to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Colombia international Rodriguez spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Bayern Munich, while Navas acted as Thibaut Courtois’ deputy for the majority of the campaign.
If Perez successfully lures Pogba to Real Madrid, the Frenchman will likely join Eden Hazard at the Bernabeu. Hazard has seemingly played his last game in England, with Real agreeing a £88.5million deal with Premier League club Chelsea.
