Most Read: How to burn belly fat without exercising

Many have really vowed to slim down in this New Year, well if you were one of them, you might want to read this handy advice.

Contrary to popular belief, toning up doesn’t need to involve hours of training at the gym.

Banishing the podge around your waist can be as easy as incorporating more fat-burning foods into your diet. So what should you be eating to see the best results?

Apparently, chai tea can be used as a weight loss aid. The spicy drink, which originates from India, is said to encourage the body to shed fat.

A study published in the NCBI found that drinking one cup a day can ward of unwanted weight gain. Participants that sipped the brew for three months saw their waists reduce in circumference by almost 2cm.

These effects declined after six months, so it’s unlikely you will see as great results in the long-term. It’s also advisable to drink the tea in moderation – as well as maintaining a healthy and balanced diet – to see the best results.

While research pinpointed black tea as being the key fat-burning ingredient, the ginger present in chai drinks may have equal benefits.

A study published in UK National Library of Medicine found that the root promotes feelings of fullness. Researchers tracked the impact of the spice on a group of overweight men.

Participants reported feeling more satiated, leading to them eating less and losing more weight. This theory is backed by researchers at China Agricultural University. Scientists collected data from 60 different studies to see how the root affects the body.

It’s believed that the superfood aids carbohydrate digestion, fat-burning and insulin regulation.

They added that it “has built a consensus that ginger and its major constituents exert beneficial effects against obesity, diabetes, (cardiovascular diseases) and related disorders.”
