Paulo Dybala: Cristiano Ronaldo is Hated in Argentina

ibtimes: Juventus star Paulo Dybala has revealed that he told his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo that people in Argentina “hate” the Portugal forward.

Ronaldo has been neck-to-neck with Argentina’s star striker Lionel Messi and fans of both the players have forever been debating who the better soccer player is.

Dybala, who became friends with Ronaldo recently when the latter moved from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018, has admitted that even he disliked the Portuguese forward before he actually got to know him at the Italian club.

“I said to him: ‘Cristiano, in Argentina, we hate you a bit because of your figure, because of how you are, of how you walk. The truth is that you’ve surprised me [since we met], because I’ve found you to be different,’” said Dybala, as reported by The Independent.

The midfielder was one of three Juventus players – alongside Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi – to be diagnosed with coronavirus in March. However, the Argentinean has said that he is recovering fine after a period of self-isolation.

Last month Juventus announced that Ronaldo and the other first-team players had agreed to take a heavy pay cut amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis to protect the club’s non-playing staff. The players alongside boss, Maurizio Sarri will not be paid full salaries for four months (March, April, May and June).

“Should the current season’s matches be rescheduled, the Club will negotiate in good faith with the players and the coach conditional increases of compensations according to the actual resumption and finalization of official competitions. Juventus would like to thank the players and the coach for their commitment at a difficult time for everyone,” the Serie A club thanked the players and the boss in a statement.

Italy is the worst-affected nation by the pandemic virus and so far, the country has announced that no sport will be played until April 3. The Old Lady currently are on the top of the Serie A table, one point ahead of second-placed Lazio.
