Neymar’s dad has broken his silence about his son’s rumoured move back to Barcelona.
The Brazilian megastar left the Nou Camp to join Paris-Saint Germain in a controversial world-record €220m deal in 2017.
But a few months later rumours started to emerge saying the frontman was unhappy in Paris and wanted a move back to La Liga.
However due to how he left the Catalan giants – with his father Neymar Sr ruthlessly pushing through a move – it seemed unlikely he would come back so easily.
Especially as his €220m release clause doesn’t kick in until the end of next season. But Neymar is now reportedly pleading with Barcelona to sanction his return to the Spanish champions.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, he has been in contact with senior figures at Barcelona in recent months.
Neymar is understood to have used his father to phone the club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, as well as other directors.
Neymar’s dad acts as his agent after the megstar left Wagner Ribeiro – who used to look after the likes of Robinho.
But now Neymar Sr has had his say, posting on Globo Esporte’s story on the El Mundo report. And it’s not good news for Barcelona fans who want the Brazilian back.
Over the headline, which also suggest the family are ‘sorry’ he was allowed to join PSG, Neymar Sr posted ‘Fake News’ in a Donald Trump-inspired rant on the report.
The picture’s accompanying caption read: “Fake News from Fake News.” But this maybe at odds with what his son really wants to do.
The player is believed to have apologised for the manner of his exit in 2017 while criticising the job Thomas Tuchel has done since taking over at PSG.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona sent one of their chief scouts to meet with Neymar’s representatives in Brazil to discuss a return.
Spanish radio station Catalunya Radio reported that Barcelona sent their scout Andre Cury, who works for the club in Brazil, to meet with Neymar’s team.
