Manchester United boss Solskjaer has been tipped to sign Koulibaly from Napoli when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

And, now, the Evening Standard say the Norwegian rates the Senegal international among the top three centre-backs in world football.

He’s said to view Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and his own captain, Harry Maguire, as being in the same bracket.

But whether he moves for Koulibaly is something only time will tell.

Napoli are said to have dropped their asking price for the 28-year-old, who has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG.

But United would still have to work out £90million if they’re to bring the Senegal powerhouse to the Premier League.

That would mean making him the world’s most-expensive defender on the planet.

Back in the summer United paid £80m for Maguire, which dwarfed the £75m paid by Liverpool for Van Dijk in January 2018.

Regarding Tuanzebe, and the report adds that Solskjaer rates the 22-year-old highly.

The former Aston Villa loan star has been out of action since the 3-0 victory over Colchester back in December.

And Solskjaer feels he can be a vital option for United in the future, despite his setbacks this season.

Speaking at the end of February, the 47-year-old provided an update on Tuanzebe and when he could return.

Speaking about both the 22-year-old and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, he said: “They are getting close to a reserve match or a behind closed doors match.

“We need them to pay in that kind of games before we use them in a first team appearance.”

Tuanzebe recently opened up on his situation, saying: “Yeah, my training has been very good for the last couple of weeks.

“My physio, John Davin, has helped me a lot with my progression and tried to really optimise the time I’ve had to recover.

“It’s been going really good, I’m a lot stronger now and soon to be back on the pitch with the lads again.”

United’s FA Cup clash with Derby County on Thursday is expected to come too soon for Tuanzebe.

The Red Devils travel to Pride Park aiming to make the sixth round of the FA Cup – and tournament they’ve not won since 2016.
