Liam Hemsworth came over all emotional as he recalled the moment wife Miley Cyrus told him she wanted to take his surname when they married.
The long-term loves finally tied the knot just before Christmas last year in a private family ceremony within their Tennessee home. Liam and Miley, who only obtained their wedding license five days before their big day, confirmed their happy news online, sharing a series of snaps from their nuptials on social media. Now, nearly two months after saying I do, Liam is still gushing over his wife and our hearts can’t take it.
The Hunger Games actor appeared on Live With Kelly and Ryan and revealed he’d got a little bit teary when Miley told him she wanted to take his surname and become Miley Ray Hemsworth.
Liam said: ‘She’ll still obviously be known as Miley Cyrus, but yeah she took my name which was great. ‘It was honestly one of the best things, I didn’t ask her to take my name, but she was like, “no of course I will, I’m taking your name.”‘ Pretending to cry, he re-enacted his emotional response, saying: ‘That’s awesome, that’s really good, thank you.’
Oh, stop it you.
His secret wedding to Miley came as a shock to fans, with the stars choosing to have just their family in attendance, including Miley’s parents Billy Ray Cyrus and mum Tish and Liam’s brother Chris Hemsworth.
Explaining their decision to keep things low-key, Liam said: ‘We never wanted to do anything too extravagant or big. ‘We find the whole thing kind of embarrassing, you know, we know how we feel about each other, we just wanted to do something simple, organic and just basically with immediate family.’ ‘But it was a really nice day, it was a really special day,’ he said.
