loaded: Iconic Italian supercar brand Lamborghini has teamed up with Cervélo Cycles to produce a limited edition bicycle dubbed the Cervélo R5 Automobili Lamborghini Edition.
The stylish road bike is inspired by the Aventador SVJ, but at a fraction of the cost at $18,000 (£14,000) – small enough change if you’re a Lamborghini customer, but not really for us mere mortals.
The Aventador SVJ set a new record for production cars on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 2018, after lapping the circuit in 6:44.97 – and the bicycle’s livery pays tribute to the triumph.
Only 63 examples of the bicycle will be produced, a number chosen to celebrate the automaker’s founding in 1963.
“In the same way that the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ raised the performance benchmark in the road vehicle segment, the Cervelo R5 Automobili Lamborghini Edition is created to tackle the steepest uphill and downhill tracks of the Italian Dolomite Alps,” Lamborghini said.
“Its essence is inspired by that of the Aventador SVJ: fast from every perspective, but distinguished by easy handling and behavior.”
The Cervelo R5 is accessorised with only Italian-made components – including Campagnolo Bora One wheels wrapped in Vittoria Corsa Pro tires, Campagnolo Super Record EPS mechanical assembly, Deda Elementi stem and Fizik Aliante saddle.
The new bicycle is already on sale and can be bought direct from Cervélo for $18,000 – or about $3,000 more than a new Mitsubishi Mirage.
