standard: Karim Benzema hit four goals for Real Madrid as Los Blancos thrashed Getafe 6-0 in a friendly at their training ground on Tuesday.
The two teams were due to meet in the opening round of LaLiga last weekend, but were given extra time to prepare for the new season following their participation in European competition last month.
Instead, the capital clubs scheduled a friendly behind closed doors at Madrid’s Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, which is located at their training base in Valdebebas.
Missing a host of players including Marco Asensio, Isco, Sergio Reguilon, Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, Mariano, Lucas Vazquez, Martin Odegaard and Luka Jovic, Real coach Zinedine Zidane included a number of youth players in his line-up.
Getafe also began with several members of their B team in the XI and Madrid made short work of their local rivals as Benzema hit four, with captain Sergio Ramos and 18-year-old midfielder Sergio Arribas also on target.
All of the goals were scored in the first half of the match, which was played without media presence.
Madrid kick off the defence of their title this Sunday, away to Real Sociedad, while Getafe host Osasuna on Friday night.
