Juventus ready to do anything to make Pep Guardiola their new boss

mirror: Juventus are reportedly ready to give Pep Guardiola ‘whatever it takes’ to make the Manchester City boss their new manager this summer.

The Bianconeri only appointed Maurizio Sarri last summer after the Italian left Chelsea to take up the post in Turin.

But Juventus are at risk of not winning the title for the first time since 2010-11 following their shock defeat to Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Inter’s comeback win over AC Milan saw Antonio Conte’s side leapfrog the Old Lady to sit top of Serie A on goal difference after 23 matches played.

And Juve chief Andrea Agnelli believes Guardiola is the missing link to help the Italian giants win a first Champions League crown since 1996, report The Sun.

Guardiola expects to take his Etihad tenure into a fifth term next season, while City are confident there is no chance of him walking away.

But he is yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms in Manchester, and that could lead Juve to make a sustained approach when the current season is over.

Guardiola led City to an unprecedented domestic treble last term, but they will not retain their Premier League title this season virtue of Liverpool’s 22-point advantage at the top of the table.

They are in the Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa and have navigated their way through to the FA Cup fifth round where they take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

But all eyes are on the Champions League at the Etihad – both in the stands and in the boardroom – with City facing the prospect of a two-legged last-16 tie against 13-time kings of Europe Real Madrid.
