The Luther star has revealed that he would like to become a teacher in his older years as he loves to give out advice to others. He’d definitely have our attention, that’s for sure. Idris made the admission while speaking as part of a new campaign with Squarespace and said: ‘I think one day, in my advanced years, that I probably will end up as some sort of teacher, professor of sort.’
The actor said he wanted to give people the opportunity to ‘learn’ from him as he ‘likes giving advice’. And giving a taste of what we can expect from Professor Elba, Idris shared his own words of wisdom: ‘Don’t define yourself by one thing, take a look at a tool that can help you redefine yourself.’
However, for now, Idris is still gracing our screens and recently returned as DCI Luther for the fifth series of the BBC show. He’s even making a mark on the music scene and has been listed as a performer at Coachella 2019.
Luther, who is known for DJing, has teamed up with Sean Paul, Stefflon Don and Wiley for their new song Boasty. And in his verse, he couldn’t resist dropping a lyric referring to the time he performed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception in May.
Idris raps: ‘Man a big DJ, ask Meghan and Harry.’
He said DJ’ing for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their big day had been a ‘life highlight’ for him. ‘It was a beautiful experience, like all weddings are,’ Idris told the Guardian, describing Prince Harry as ‘a friend of mine.’ ‘I try not to talk too much about it, because it was a private day, but it remains one of the highlights of my life, for sure.’
