Game of Thrones banned Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner has revealed that she was banned from washing her hair while filming Game of Thrones, saying “it was disgusting”.

The actress, who has played Sansa Stark on the beloved HBO fantasy series since it began in 2011, told InStyle magazine: “For the first few seasons I was allowed to wash my hair because I was an aristocratic young girl.

“Towards season five they started asking me to not wash my hair and it was really disgusting.”

When asked if it ever got itchy the 22-year-old actress responded: “Really itchy! Also, we would have the snow machines going so we would have little snow paper particles that would get stuck in the grease. It was disgusting.”

However, Turner said she was eventually allowed to wear wigs, which meant she could wash her hair whenever she wanted.

“Now I wear a wig so I can wash my hair whenever I want, which is nice. But yes, for a couple of years I was living with pretty greasy hair”, she said.

Turner will star in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones which will be broadcast on Sky Atlantic in Ireland on April 15 at 2am.

The air date was announced with a chilling teaser trailer which showed Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark in the crypts of Winterfell. The final season will feature six episodes.

Turner’s co-star Kit Harington recently said that while he isn’t happy the series is coming to a close, he is satisfied with how the showrunners have concluded the story.
