metro: Not many people say no to Ed Sheeran. And if his new collaborations project is anything to go, that includes the world’s biggest musicians right now.
The singer, 28, – who’s already collaborated with Beyonce and Taylor Swift in his career – has revealed the mega names on his new EP, No. 6, and it’s essentially everyone. Featuring link-ups with Eminem, Cardi B and Travis Scott, Ed seems to have hand-picked his favourite people to be on his record and made it look like an easy ask.
We’ve already heard his collaborations with Chance The Rapper (Cross Me) and Justin Bieber (I Don’t Care) from the record, the latter of which has just spent its fourth week at Number 1 in the UK.
He stole that chart position from Stormzy, who he’s now got on board for a track called Take Me Back To London. Then there’s the unexpected link-up with Cardi and former Fifth Harmony star Camila on South Of The Border. And, for the Noughties era music fans, Ed has brought some seriously nostalgic vibes by collaborating with 50 Cent and Eminem.
The record, first teased in May, also features appearances from Skrillex, Bruno Mars and Khalid. Announcing the track list on Instagram on Tuesday, Ed wrote: ‘Thanks to all the amazing artists I’ve worked with on this record for sharing your talent with me.
No. 6 Collaborations Project comes out on July 12, hope you like it as much as I do.’ Ed started No.6 on his laptop when he was on tour in 2018 as a follow-up to his lesser-known No.5 Collaborations Project. Featuring grime artists Devlin, Wiley and Ghetts, the EP was made when Ed first signed in 2011.
Eight years later everything Ed touches turns to gold, with all three of his albums (DIVIDE, + and x) reaching number 1 and thanks to his tours, he is expected to become a billionaire by the age of 30. No wonder no-one says no to Ed Sheeran.
